A fellow blogger, Jenni asked if I wanted to participate in a Women Writers Blog Hop and it sounded like something I would enjoy. Each week different women will answer 4 questions about their writing and then they will feature other women bloggers who will continue the hop next week. It’s a fun way to find about some your bloggers and maybe even find some new blogs along the way!
1. What do I write/What am I working on?
I write because it’s my outlet. I’ve always enjoyed journaling and blogging. When I worked outside of the home I transitioned from simply journaling to food blogging. When I got pregnant the blog ended because I couldn’t handle writing about food. I couldn’t find the time to write so it all got pushed to the back burner. After almost 2 more years of staying home I realized I out all of my energy into being a mom and a wife and very little time into being me. Thus, this blog was born.
2. How is my writing different than other writers?
While this blog is another mom blog that journals the woes and joys of motherhood and records recipes and projects, it’s different because it’s mine. It’s my voice, my thoughts, my view. It’s my break from taking care of everyone and my time to let my words spill out on the screen. It’s me.
3. Why do I write what I do?
I’ve already answered this, but there is another reason I write–I love memories. I focus on keeping track of important dates and recording what we do and how it went. I like to think of my blog as a memory preserver. I can look back and see what’s changed and what we’ve done and it’s a handy place to keep those memories.
4. How does my writing process work?
I would love to boast of my organization and share wisdom to others looking for answers. But honestly? I have none of that for you. I write when I get 5 minutes. I write if my other duties are done and the kids are in bed. I write one post, sometimes two, sometimes I proofread it, sometimes I just hit publish in a desperate attempt to finally get something out in the blog world. I make mental notes go things I want to blog and pray I can remember them later. But I promise I want to get better. I plan on becoming more organized…tomorrow.
I’m featuring two San Antonio bloggers who have blogs that I love to follow–Simon and Martin.
Simon blogs over at SensiblySimon.
Simon is a man of 2 boys (a 10 year old and a 5 year old) and a wife. Along with her husband and boys, she loves geocaching, playing games and having fun as a family. When she isn’t blogging you can find her hanging out with her family, volunteering at church, taking photos, or walking through Target.
Martin blogs over at Que Means What?
Martin is the creator of… Means What? – a blog that began as a story-telling platform to share her ‘cultural identity crisis’ as a Mexican-American living in Texas who was discovering her own Mexican heritage. It’s grown in to a community of Latino culture enthusiasts and San Antonio event goers. Martin aspires to get others to celebrate their own culture and heritage with stories and current events.
